As some may or may not know. SM Megamall already put a strict rule on Cosplayers loitering around the mall.
Those who dunno what happened, here’s a summary.

-Cosplayers  spraying colored Hairspray in the Foodcourt leaving a nasty stained on the table.
-Cosplayers styling their wigs with hairspray at the Foodcourt with PEOPLE AROUND EATING.
-Cosplayers spilled Greco coz they were doing last min prop making on the spot.

Well there’s more. Readers you get the picture.

So what really happened during MCC that made me decide to write this blog.

A particular cosplayer was posing inappropriately for photos.
why is it inappropriately?

A family passed by and one of them commented “Bastos”
I stayed in Philippines long enough to know what it means.

I am familiar who that cosplayer was cosplaying as. Heck that character is a ICON. Watching this cosplayer misbehave made my heart cry…..YOU DESTROYING THE IMAGE!

No excuse even saying  “But that’s how characters moves anyways?”

Obviously more research is needed. This character has been cosplayed by a number of people and one of them already made it close to the real thing and that cosplayer didn’t even do all those disturbing poses and misbehavior.

Oh shoot me if I am comparing Fail and Pass cosplayers. This always happen in the cosplay scene whether local or not.

The part that made me angry. A worker and a friend of mine asked me “Are you a JejeCosplayer?”
shocked to hear there’s a label now.
I simple asked back “Why Jejecosplayers?”

He just smiled at me but he said most of them are misbehaving ones mostly related to Jejemons and told me to find out more on Jejemons.

I am aware of Jejemons but to the point now we cosplayers are now put in a sub group to them.

Shocked me.

It made me reflect is this how People sees us Cosplayers now?

This made me realize the longer I am here in Philippines. The cosplay scene has been around for so long but it feels the cosplayers of the community just went YOUNGER and more Childish.

You guys made Philippines proud.

This time is different!
You have to compete among the BEST cosplayers nationwide
to be the next representative this year’s RCC!

This one of the eye opener to me when I arrived here in Philippines.

The reason why you don’t get to see kids cosplaying at young age in Singapore.
Not all Parents in Singapore appreciate the hobby.
Nor any parents would want their kids to cosplay at a young age.
Parents in Singapore are more strict would rather prefer their kids to be studying.
It is a waste a money for them.
Thou I have yet to know anyone that are already Parents and will want their kids cosplay even thou they were cosplayers before.
most of these young cosplayer their parents were Cosplayers before.

Here I was amaze the amount of young cosplayers.
Making me feel that I am too old for this hobby.

During my judging at Pinoy Cosplay Convention 2011, Belldandy who cosplayed as Kamen Rider Den-O
said she and her dad enjoys watching Kamen Rider Den-O together.
She didn’t felt she was being forced to cosplay this character

It envy me that kids can get to cosplay at a young age and they don’t really have to do alot of things for their cosplay.
Making me think that Family here are much more open to this hobby.

At SM Megamall.

My review for this event.
I came to the event late about 4.30pm I arrived the location.
School project presentation was really draggy in the morning

Thou my intital plan was to join the Karaoke contest.
Pretty bummed out.

I helped out in Cosplay.ph booth for the Donation collection

Not much Cosplayers for this event. Most of the cosplayers reused their costume from what they wore for PCC early March.

But I have to give credit on the band performance that day.
Most of them performance quality.

One of my fave band is Sagashimono

For a school organized convention, The event had a good theme and good music.
sad that the cosplay isn’t much.

Cosplay.com has created a drive for the victims of the Tsunami/Earthquake
in Japan that hit on March 11 2011

Cosplayers from different country submit a photo and gives words of encouragement to the victims.

Eventhou we can’t really do much. But do some Donations and Gives support!

Red Cross is open for donations
This upcoming Tamashii Con. Cosplay.ph will have a donation box and proceeds will go to Red Cross.

Let’s do a little interview after your experience attending Cosplaymania X. Should we?

First question, What were you expecting when you attended Cosplaymania X?

Clive:
I was expecting to see fellow mecha cosplayers and as well as the various programs which seemed very unique and interesting.

Oh righty. Is cosplaying in Philippines different from Singapore?

Clive:
It seems that there are more variety of cosplayers and more self-made costumes in Philippines compared to Singapore which gave me much food for thoughts.

What did you do at Cosplaymania X?

Clive:
I was looking around, enjoying the event and the program at the 1st day. 2nd day was busy as I had a schedule to follow but still I enjoy the cosplay experience.

HEHE! Was it fun attending this con?

Clive:
No doubt! 10 Thumbs up if I have 10 thumbs! Hahaha!

Will you visit and bring friends to Philippines again?

Clive:
Definitely! I think my friends will be intrigued by Philippines’ cosplay.

Message to the Filipino cosplayers

Clive:
Don’t give up! Enjoy cosplay to its fullest.

Since you ate/drink something in Philippines, what was it that make you “I wish I can have it in Singapore!”?

Clive:
The ultra big cake and the crispy pork belly snack. I love those! Food that I can never forget and food I am dying to eat again.

Cosplay CURE cards is a card that a cosplayer will give out to fellow cosplayers who has COS-CURE pages
(You always give out other Cosplay gallery you have that is you don’t have a cure account)

The idea came from Japan and it is now becoming a side hobby for Cosplayers to collect Cure cards from different cosplayers. They tend to trade with other cosplayer and to see how many Cosplayers they meet on a gathering.

Currently Philippines is starting this trend seen during the recent 4th PCC. Usually those who are starting this trend are people who got a Cure card from Jesuke who first gave it out during her 1st visit here in the Philippines. And Cosplayers who attended AFA 2010 Singapore.

So are you interested to start your first Cosplay Cure Card?

But first. Knowing the right type of Cure card.

I received two different cards during the 4th PCC.

Which one is the correct type of Cure Card?

Card [1]

Card [2]

The Correct CURE CARD is actually Card [2]

Reason.
CURE card should only have 1 character in a card.
Card [1] is more on the Namecard side. With multiple cosplay images.

The reason why you only have 1 character in a card is to give thrill on receivers and let them wait for other cosplays you done into a card.

Here’s a example of ASKA’s cure card i got. This is consider to be her RARE CARD

For example, My best cosplay is “Ranka Lee” and u decided to make it a rare CURE card. You only give out 20 pieces of card. Making it as part of your “RARE ITEM CARD”

In conclusion

You can make your CURE cards like Trading cards for collections.

This is a quick interview on her experience in one of the major Cosplay conventions of 2010.

First question, What were you expecting when you attended Cosplaymania X?

Jesuke: hmm, i expecting alot of people and alot of great cosplayers out there to share their expierence of cosplay, and of coz all the happy faces in the event

Oh righty. Is it different Cosplaying in Philippines  from Singapore?

Jesuke: very very different, lots of entertainment, friendly people and lots of mecha cosplayers… lots of weapons done by scratch.. great!

What did you do at Cosplaymania X?

Jesuke: well, had a small workshop about wig styling, talk about how to style wigs using what kind of materials and stuff, i do hope the people attend the workshop will understand what i was talking as my english were not too good haha. The event was great! Make new friends and scroll around the event

Since i’m a kpop fan, people had to me that there are kpop booth so when i went there i quickly find kpop stuff.. and bought it back home to singapore and give my friends!

Jesuke: yes of course! i had great fun there!! thanks for all the people that give mi gifts! i’m very happy!
